jungle trekking & camping

A fun and very interesting trekking adventure in the Borneo jungle.  This can be a half or full day event and customised to be as adventurous or “extreme” as required.

The trekking will be on narrow jungle and village trails, crossing some of the famous “hanging” bridges.  The expert jungle guides will share their immense knowledge and will look after the guests throughout this adventure.  You will get to try whatever natural vegetables and fruit can be collected along the route and will also learn about some amazing medicinal plants – including the famous Jungle Viagra!  The guides will demonstrate some of the multiple uses of bamboo and even teach you about making animal traps.  There will also be opportunities to observe village life, learn how rice is planted and how rubber is collected. Full Day programme includes the chance to enjoy a jungle lunch cooked (and help cook it!) on open fires as well as complete a  trekking journey from one location to another.

white water rafting

A fun and exciting rafting trip down the Grade 1 and 2 rapids of the Kiulu River.   Bus transfer is 45 - 60 minutes to the starting point on the side of the Kiulu River. Here participants put on life jackets/helmets and receive a comprehensive safety briefing.  Thereafter they begin a fun and exciting trip down the river in rubber paddle rafts.  Each raft carries 6 - 8 people accompanied by one raft guide.  The river flows through a beautiful river valley, past villages, rice fields etc.   After about 1.5 hours on the river the rafts reach the beautiful Traverse Adventure Centre ending point where they will have a chance to shower and change and have some refreshments.  A 5-10 minute walk up some steps through rice fields and past some village houses will bring the participants back to the buses for transfer back to the resort.

Each raft sitting 4-6 persons accompanied by a professional raft guide.

community projects

The incredible personal development experience of living and working in a local community while completing a challenging project.  Projects have included construction of gravity feed water systems, village hall, renovation of schools and bridge construction.

sea adventures

Groups can do overnight stays at the islands, kayaking, snorkelling and even scuba diving to give a balanced experience of mountain, jungle and sea!

jungle expedition training

Learn and practice all the skills necessary for surviving in a tropical jungle environment and complete an extended jungle expedition.

village homestays

Groups trek to and stay in rural villages living with the local people and experiencing a different way of life. This can be combined with work on community projects.

Try planting rice, tapping rubber, traditional fishing methods, basket weaving - there is so much to experience!

mountain biking

An exciting (but not necessarily too strenuous!) half day bike adventure on quiet roads and trails through beautiful scenery and rural villages of the Kiulu River valley.  High quality bikes and experienced guides make this a unique and enjoyable way to experience Borneo.

There will be regular rest stops and even the chance to refresh with a swim in a river along the route.

More extreme biking routes can also be provided for guests with previous mountain biking experience.

Experienced bike guides are provided in ratio of 1 per 10-12 riders.

environmental projects

The group will be involved in an environmental or research project at a national park, forest or wildlife reserve often working in conjunction with scientists or researchers.  Previous projects have included rhino and elephant surveys, forest rehabilitation, trail construction and interpretation programmes.

mount climbing

A 2-day climb to the summit of Mt Kinabalu (4095 metres), the highest mountain in South East Asia, provides a unique and powerful group experience.  Climbers stay overnight at a mountain hut before climbing to the summit to enjoy and unforgettable sunrise.  A unique challenge that provides an incredible sense of achievement.
